If all goes as it should...then digital delivery of media will be AWESOME.

I will rent all my movies via a PS3 or an Xbox 360, because it's so much easier than searching through a store. Plus, with digital delivery, they'll never be out of stock or rented out. Plus, it's cheaper, too! This weekend, I wanted to rent Breakfast Club, but it was rented out at Hollywood Video. So then I had the bright idea of checking it out on the PSN and XBox Live stores. Unfortunately, since they're both just starting up, they don't have huge selections... so neither of them had it. Oh well. But it will be cooool once they fully stock their stores. =D I can't wait

And tonight, I've been looking up music on iTunes. What a great way to hear 30 second demos of songs! It's awesome! Haha. But now I'm tempted to just buy a couple songs here and there... not good on my wallet. =P But it's fun.

Some day... I hope soon... I will be able to do ALL my shopping from home. =P

hahah..this might sound crazy but...
i LOVE being able to hold the product/touch it in my hand...etc...and the instant gratification of trying it on, seeing how it fits, etc...also probably because I am one of those crazies who will take 20 items into the dressing room and *maybe* buy one...
(although w/other things like renting movies, since I'm not keeping it, I am all for not leaving my chair, hahahah)

i agree with anne about the seeing products first hand. Somethings are ok to buy online. Some things you just gotta pick for yourself. As for digital delivery? Just download it via torrent, it's the same thing only free.

plus shipping always gets on my nerves. I'm such a stingy crank when it comes to shipping. Until they drive down shipping to reasonable prices i'd rather pick it up myself.

Well, of course I meant the system would be good AFTER it's been perfected.

If there were a way they could store MY image and have the virtual me try stuff on and have it be accurate, that would be awesome. Hahaha. As for textures and stuff, really really high res images would be sufficient for me.

And of course shipping would be FREE. Duh. I don't pay for shipping. I buy stuff on amazon (mostly books) and don't pay shipping. I buy stuff from Clinique (cuz I'm too lazy to go to the store), but ONLY when there's free shipping. Free shipping should be a given, in my opinion, for any online store to survive.

this old guy at work (he's almost 70) asked why I preferred writing things on paper / hard copy memos / proofreading hard-copies over their digital alternatives and was particularly vexed because he had spent the last 5 years trying to catch up with the computer generation and going "digital."

even something like renting movies from a brick and mortar shop-- I like the tactile experience of examining scuffed up dvd cases, of browsing through the aisles with a bunch of strangers, and smelling the musky dust scent... I like having to walk to Blockbuster's and waiting in line. The extra effort, and most people probably see it as a waste of time, adds to my personal, human experience.

Going digital is fantastic, but there's a fundamental loss of appreciation for services and items when they can be delivered at the push of a button.

Haha, all the stuff you love as "personal, human experience," Kanopus, I hate. I define "personal, human experience," much differently, I suppose. =P

As for "loss of appreciation for services," well, I never had much appreciation for services in the first place. I hate tipping (oops, did I just say that?). But, for loss of items, yes, I can understand and sympathize with that. There is something about the CD and DVD pamphlets that are nice.

HAHA, I just realized how ironic my original entry was, considering that I work in PRINT media. HA!
